Land Attunement

Like some other druids, Gutter can spend a long rest attuning to the environment that he is in. Doing so requires a Nature DC check as follows:

Experience in environment DC
First time in environment 20
Been in environment before 15
Home environment 15*
  • Roll with advantage

On a success, he gains access to Circle Land Druid spells for the new environment. On a failure, he loses access to any Circle Land Druid spells he had prepared and may not prepare any Circle spells until he attunes. The DC to attune is reduced by 5 for each long rest he spends in a given environment.

Furthermore, his level 6 Land Stride ability only functions on non-magical difficult terrain for the land he is currently attuned to.

Personality Traits

Gutter has an unusually cheerful personality and always seems to admire the grandeur of nature. He knows "Fun facts" about the current land he is attuned to which may not be true.. "fun fact, caverns come from the dwarvish word for asscrack"

Combat, however is when his darker side comes out. He often scream out battlecries that hide complaints related to attuned land: "the rent is too high!", "I can't see in the dark but the dark can see you!", "the wind is chafing my skin!"

Feats

Warlock Magic Initiate (Human Variant):

While in a low place as an urchin in Neverwinter, Gutter had an encounter with a powerful fey who took favor on him in a dark moment. He learned the cantrip, Green Flame Blade and gained the use of an Unseen Servant that he calls upon from time to time.He feels the servant is a favor from his almost-patron and that he is still under observation and consideration.

War Caster (4th Level): You have practiced casting spells in the midst of combat, learning techniques that grant you the following benefits:

  • You have advantage on Constitution saving throws that you make to maintain your concentration on a spell when you take damage.
  • You can perform the somatic components of spells even when you have weapons or a shield in one or both hands.
  • When a hostile creature’s movement provokes an opportunity attack from you, you can use your reaction to cast a spell at the creature, rather than making an opportunity attack. The spell must have a casting time of 1 action and must target only that creature.
Background

Gutter grew up on the streets surviving through wit, determination, kindness, and a lot of luck. He begged strangers for coin or scraps, stole from merchants or travelers, and forgaged food from the gardens, parks and sewers of the city. When all else failed he relied on the kindness of orgaphages and city services.

On approaching adulthood, Gutter realized he had gained an affinity for his city. It was more than just buildings and people, it was a living ecosystem of plants and animals as well. He found power in what most overlooked. The moss in the cracks, the rats in the alleys and the grasses and flowers that bravely breached the pavement. Where others saw a puddle he saw an alter created by his city to the rain that gave life to all within its walls.

For years he cultivated his appreciation. Where he used to steal and forage, now he tended and preserved. He learned how to tell apart the creatures who would feed the city from those that meant it harm. He made allies in churches and monasteries and friends with pigeon, cat and vermin.

Eventually he came to know he was not alone in this calling. Other parks had keepers and other sewers had guardians, a hidden voice once whispered to him. And when Gutter met those that the voices spoke of, he was invited to join and learn.
